Sustainability at Lambourne House

Our Commitment to a Greener Future

At Lambourne House, sustainability is more than just a buzzword – it’s at the heart of everything we do. In a world where environmental challenges are becoming increasingly urgent, we recognise the importance of doing our part to protect the planet for future generations. Our commitment to sustainability shapes every decision we make, from the energy we use to the way we manage waste.

Here’s how we’re working to reduce our environmental impact and make a positive difference…

1. Recycling: From Plastic to Food Waste

Recycling is a key priority at Lambourne House. We understand the importance of minimising waste, and that starts with carefully sorting and recycling everything from plastic to food scraps. We ensure that all materials – from paper and glass to organic waste – are properly processed to either be reused or turned into something valuable.

Food waste might seem like a minor issue, but it has a significant environmental impact. When food decomposes in landfills, it releases methane, a potent greenhouse gas. By composting or recycling food waste, we help reduce this impact, turning organic materials into valuable compost or energy. We take the same care with all types of waste, making sure that nothing is wasted unnecessarily.

2. Solar Panels

One of the largest contributors to environmental damage is energy use, particularly when it comes from non-renewable sources. To reduce our carbon footprint, Lambourne House is powered by solar panels. These panels allow us to harness clean, renewable energy from the sun, cutting our reliance on fossil fuels and lowering the amount of carbon dioxide we emit into the atmosphere.

In 2024, our solar panels generated 126,515 kWh of electricity. That’s enough to power around 40 average UK homes for the entire year, or even a Tesla Model 3 for approximately 420,000 miles – that’s equivalent to driving around the UK coastline 35 times!

This generation has saved an estimated 28.48 tonnes of CO₂, which is the same amount of carbon sequestered by around 1,300 mature trees annually. For perspective, this is also equal to the emissions from 13 return flights between London and New York.

The solar array offset 75% of the building’s total electricity consumption of 169,257 kWh – the same amount of energy consumed over 5 match days at the Principality Stadium or enough to power an electric shower for nearly 17,000 hours.

The benefits of solar power go beyond environmental impact. By reducing our energy costs, we not only make our operations more efficient but also contribute to a greener future. Thanks to solar technology, we’ve taken significant steps to reduce our environmental impact and improve the sustainability of our operations.

3. Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers and Green Car Pools

As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing emissions and supporting the transition to electric transport, Lambourne House has installed EV chargers on-site. This makes it easier for staff, visitors, and partners to drive electric vehicles, knowing they have access to convenient charging points at our location.

We also encourage carpooling, and our carpools are either fully electric or hybrid. This helps reduce the number of petrol and diesel vehicles on the road, cutting air pollution, easing traffic congestion, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. By offering these sustainable transport options, we’re making it easier for everyone to make eco-friendly choices when travelling to and from Lambourne House.

4. Partnering with Inspire Green

In our pursuit of sustainability, we’re proud to have partnered with Inspire Green, a leading Commercial Renewable Energy Specialist. Together, we’re working to ensure that our energy consumption is as green and efficient as possible. Inspire Green provides us with expertise in renewable energy solutions, helping us to continuously optimise our energy usage and reduce our environmental impact. This partnership is just one example of how we’re actively seeking out innovative solutions to help us achieve our sustainability goals.

5. Why Sustainability Matters to Us

At Lambourne House, sustainability is much more than a strategy – it’s a fundamental part of our ethos. We understand the growing urgency of climate change, and we believe that every step we take can contribute to a larger effort to protect the environment. By embracing sustainable practices in every aspect of our operations, we not only reduce our own impact but also set an example for others to follow.

As a business, we recognise the responsibility we have to use our resources wisely, innovate for a cleaner future, and encourage those around us to do the same. We want to be part of the solution, helping to create a world where sustainability is the norm, not the exception. The changes we make today will shape the world of tomorrow, and we’re committed to ensuring that our efforts benefit both our immediate community and the wider planet.

Our Continued Commitment to Sustainability

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, but we’re not stopping here. At Lambourne House, we’re continually exploring new ways to improve our sustainability efforts. Whether that’s by investing in additional renewable energy sources, expanding our waste management practices, or fostering an even greater culture of environmental responsibility within our team, we’re committed to doing everything we can to protect the planet.

Sustainability is not a one-time initiative for us – it’s an ongoing journey. And we’re excited to continue this journey with our staff, partners, and customers, knowing that together, we can make a lasting impact.
