Investing in renewable energy
One of the most significant environmental investments at Lambourne House has been the installation of a substantial rooftop solar photovoltaic system.
The 146.2 kWp installation generates renewable electricity for use within the building, reducing reliance on electricity purchased from the National Grid and enabling surplus electricity to be exported to the local network.
During the 12 months to 30 September 2026, the installation generated 141,940 kWh of renewable electricity, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 53 average UK homes.
The installation generated renewable electricity equivalent to approximately 44% of Lambourne House's total annual electricity demand, with 59% of the electricity generated consumed directly within the building and approximately 58 MWh exported to the local grid.
Based on UK Government conversion factors, the installation avoided an estimated 18.6 tonnes of CO₂e during the year.
This investment demonstrates the commitment of our owners to making meaningful, long-term improvements to the environmental performance of Lambourne House.
Supporting sustainable travel
Lambourne House has six electric vehicle charging points, providing infrastructure that supports the transition towards lower-emission transport.
Between February and September 2026, the charging facilities delivered 18,958 kWh of electricity across 757 charging sessions, equivalent to approximately 66,000 miles of zero-tailpipe-emission driving.
The estimated net carbon saving from this charging activity, after accounting for the electricity consumed, was 15.2 tonnes of CO₂e.
Our investment in EV charging also complements our solar installation. Around 78% of charging activity took place on weekdays between 7am and 4pm, when our solar panels are generating electricity, creating opportunities to use renewable energy produced directly at Lambourne House.
Improving building efficiency
Alongside our major investments in renewable energy, we continue to look for practical ways to improve the environmental performance of Lambourne House.
Energy-efficient LED lighting and smarter energy management systems form part of our approach to reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
We also take a long-term view of building infrastructure. As existing heating and other plant reach the end of their operational lives, we will assess opportunities to introduce more energy-efficient, lower-carbon alternatives, including technologies that reduce our reliance on natural gas.
Our objective is to make responsible investment decisions that improve the efficiency and sustainability of the building while maintaining a comfortable, high-quality working environment for the businesses that use it.
Part of a wider commitment to sustainability
Lambourne House forms part of the wider New Directions Holdings Group, whose family owners place considerable importance on environmental responsibility and positive social impact.
The Group has adopted a formal Carbon Reduction Plan and Net Zero Strategy, committing to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with an interim target of reducing emissions by 47% by 2035 against its 2025 baseline.
This strategy provides the overarching framework within which environmental decisions and investments at Lambourne House are made.
Across its wider operations, the Group has introduced initiatives including the transition towards electric and hybrid company vehicles, Cycle to Work and low-emission vehicle salary sacrifice schemes, hybrid working arrangements and measures to reduce paper consumption and waste.
The Group's Carbon Reduction Plan is maintained in accordance with its stated public procurement commitments, including alignment with UK Government Procurement Policy Note PPN 06/21, and is subject to ongoing monitoring and review.
Our ongoing commitment
At Lambourne House, we will continue to seek opportunities to reduce our environmental impact, improve the efficiency of our building and support more sustainable working practices.
With the backing of New Directions Holdings Group, our aim is to provide modern, flexible office, coworking and meeting facilities within a building that is managed responsibly and improved with the long term in mind.
