Spooky Science: Halloween Workshop at Lambourne House
This Halloween, the Pearl Suite at Lambourne House was transformed into a hub of creativity and curiosity, thanks to Sparklab Cymru's exciting workshop!
Young scientists gathered to explore the fascinating world of science and chemistry through a series of spooky-themed activities that left everyone buzzing with excitement.
The workshop kicked off with an introduction to the wonders of chemistry, as children learned about reactions that create vibrant colours and intriguing textures. With children stirring bubbling ‘potions’, it was a fantastic opportunity for them to see science in action and to understand the magic behind everyday reactions.
As the session progressed, participants engaged in hands-on experiments that allowed them to unleash their inner mad scientist. From creating slime to making ghostly fizzing potions, each activity was carefully designed to inspire creativity while reinforcing important scientific concepts. The joy on the children's faces was priceless, as they donned safety goggles and mixed their ingredients, eager to see what would happen next.
Not only did the children have fun, but they also gained valuable knowledge about the principles of chemistry in a way that was engaging and memorable. SparkLab Cymru's team, Mel and Rhi, ensured that each experiment was not only safe but also enriched with learning opportunities.
The Halloween theme added an extra layer of excitement, with decorations and costumes enhancing the spooky atmosphere. Many children arrived in their finest costumes, adding to the festive spirit of the day. It was heartwarming to see the community come together, sharing in the joy of learning and discovery.
As the workshop drew to a close, the children left with not only their newly created experiments but also a newfound enthusiasm for science. As they were leaving, a lot of the children spoke about learning more chemistry, and were very inspired by what they had learned.
It’s safe to say that Sparklab Cymru's Halloween workshop at Lambourne House was a success, proving that science can be both educational and fun! Here’s to more spooky science adventures ahead!
